Our Choir Directors

GILL BRADY – Choir Director and Conductor

Hi, I’m Gill Brady, an old girl of the school.  I’ve recently taken over from Jackie Robertson as Conductor of the Choir and I am the leader of the vocal ensemble Mes Amies. The only official music qualifications I can boast is a Grade 4 piano certificate and an “O” level (now called a GCSE!) in music. However, having studied music at school under Parky and having been in her choirs since I was 15, I think I can safely say that a lot of her musicality and enthusiasm has rubbed off on me, and I want to carry on the tradition and help others to enjoy the fun and satisfaction of choral singing.

ROSEMARY MACPHERSON – Co-conductor and Accompanist

There are pianists, then there are great pianists; accompanists and great accompanists and then there is Rosemary Macpherson who is just magic!  Our highly experienced and very able accompanist is also an old girl of Wirral Grammar School. Rosemary says “After leaving WGSG I studied music at Manchester University. My teaching has taken me and my family to many different parts of the world including Abu Dhabi , Seychelles and Dubai. I am now back in Wirral and involved in an advisory teaching role, spending time in primary schools to help support the delivery of the music curriculum. I am also very involved with Birkenhead Operatic Society (BOST) and am frequently in rehearsal for the next production. Music is very much part of my life both professionally and socially – I enjoy sharing my love of music with both old and young.”

Rosemary is also one of the official accompanists to the Wirral Festival of Music and Drama.

We’d love to hear from you if you would like to come and join us, or if you would like us to sing for you or your charity, please get in touch.
